Album Review

Considered one of the most important U.K. hip-hop records this century, Soundtrack to the Struggle is the second release from politically conscious London rapper Kareem Dennis, aka Lowkey. The follow-up to 2009's Dear Listener features his unique take on events on both sides of the Atlantic, as on "Dear England," a response to the Tottenham riots, and the Lupe Fiasco-sampling "Obama Nation, Pt. 2," and includes collaborations with "the First Lady of Arabic Hip-Hop," Shadia Mansour ("Too Much"), American-Peruvian MC Immortal Technique ("Voices of the Voiceless"), and British-Jamaican rapper Klashnekoff ("Blood, Sweat and Tears"), alongside six skits featuring the voices of John McCain, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and Ben Affleck. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
