Do the people doing these covers hate the originals?
I'm glad I haven't purchased this cover album and have only listened to the samples. The majority of artists have set out to try and impersonate the original sound of the original songs, but why would anyone doing a cover want to do this? Surely you want to use your own vocal style, instead of just imitating someone else? Oh and of course, there are some truly awful covers in which people have decided to turn the most heartfelt and genuine songs, into contrived and manufactured dance music. They go out of there way to slaughter and rip apart the original integrity of Boy With The Thorn In His Side and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out. Oh and I had to rate it at one because there is no rating for 0, which is what I wanted to give to this album.
Some tracks are bigger than others
Let me start by saying that I was and still am a fan of the Smiths but over the years I have changed as a person and moved on so has music, yes I would agree don't just copy the smiths it does not work!... I love these albums and there are a few of them " it is all about the lyrics " for me and there are some great vocalists and music to bring the classic stories back! Check them out for your self and make your own mind up! ... Kevin Owbridge
