Full of School Day Nostalgia
If like me you never really quite fit into your teenage years then Carter are probably a band that you would have enjoyed. With the energy and controversy the songs convey it gets easy to overlook the slightly formulaic approach to the records. They were never really comfortable always being on the cusp of commercial success, just like myself always being on the cusp of teenage exceptance. The lyrics, even today, remain relevant. As a group of singles this album does not tell the whole story of the band as some inspired songwriting resides on "Starry Eyed (a collection of B sides)" or even the album tracks that never made singles. Sadly iTunes is not the place to peruse such gems as "Good Grief Charlie Brown" and "Her Song" However, if your a Carter newbie - try the album - you never know, it might just strike a chord.
