A fresh look to the genre!!!!

Having never heard of this group before, and reading their description "think Eminem meets Slipknot" I was, to say the least fairly excited. The first track is fairly heavy, but this is probably the heaviest track on the album, so I wouldn't let it put people off who don't like heavy music. Essentially this is a rap album. There is a clear blend of genres within Hollywood Undeads' work, such as the reference to Wu Tang Clan in the song Bottle and A Gun. In terms of timbre, I'd say their sound is similar to the Australian hip hop group "Hilltop Hoods", they write humorous lyrics that relate to every day life. I can't find a bad song on this album of SIXTEEN tracks!! It really is a huge album, which is an unusual thing these days. This album is very easy to listen to due to the backing tracks, and catchy beats. I've only had the album since Friday, and already I've listened to it around 3 times. I'd highly recommend this group to anyone who likes old school Eminem, Hilltop Hoods, and generally appreciates a blend of genres and is ready for that new sound they were looking for.

Great Mix-Some Good Songs On Here

I'm not saying this hasn't been done before, but this is a great mix of rock and rap. The songs are mostly rap based, with melodic chrouses, some include metal influenced guitar riffs which adds to the texture of the music. This album may have quite immature lyrics, but is a break from most mainstream rap which has quite frankly gone downhill. Some of the "just-rap" songs sound the same but most of the songs on here are a great listen, which will get you singing along at times. Top songs include: Undead Sell Your Soul Young California Paradise Lost

8.5 out of 10

A Decent album from an virtualy unheard of band ourside hollywood Got to remember these guys made it pretty huge underground so its not mainstream listening but don't compare this to eminem or slipknot or you will never apreciate it for what it is, a pretty good album with catchy hooks and big beats. only downfall is its lack of variety which is not neccesarily a bad thing as it gives the listener exactly what they want again and again. p.s can't argue with the price either guys

Biography

Formed: June, 2005 in Hollywood, CA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Hollywood Undead hail (unsurprisingly) from the streets of Hollywood, California, mixing brash hip-hop, rock, and minor metalcore touches with cocky posturing and thug attitudes. Owing much of its popularity and exposure to the social networking monster MySpace, the group — whose members usually wear masks on-stage — started as the musical project of J-Dog and Tha Producer in June 2005. They uploaded some new music to their profile and very quickly started amassing song plays and online...
