iTunes Review
Trail of Dead needed to form their own record label in order to release their own complicated music. This isn’t always easy music for radio play, but it's an elaborate, expansive exploration of genres and the band’s instrumental abilities. “Pure Radio Cosplay” and “Summer of All Dead Souls” have the hooks embedded in the band’s DNA code, with a sense of the elasticity they developed way back on Source Tags & Codes. “Fall of the Empire,” “The Wasteland” and “Spiral Jetty” follow with a sense of pastoral space travel. If horses could fly, this would be the music for them, rich as it is in taking the slower lane to the galaxy. The pauses and breaks are as intriguing as the verses and choruses. “Weight of the Sun (Or the Post-Modern Prometheus)” is more like an old drinking-at-sea song. “Ebb Away” has the histrionics of classic and arena rock in its arsenal, but Trail of Dead put them to progressive uses that climax with the mania of “The Fairlight Pendant” and the multi-parted, sixteen-and-a-half-minute “Tao of the Dead, Pt. Two: Strange News from Another Planet.”

Fantastic, A Floydian Masterpiece!
I, as I'm sure a few others, read about this in Classic Rock Presents Prog and (I'll admit) was mainly lured in by the Artwork, but also I had a previous Trail of Dead album and that was one of my firm favourites. Suffice to say, the album more than did justice to the artwork! Each song blends into the next fantastically and this is definitely an album you can loase yourself in. "Weight of the Sun" is a track I must have listened to at least 10 times now, along with "Pure Radio Cosplay" and "Summer of All Dead Souls", this excellent album will keep you coming back for more! "Strange News from Another Planet" is an excellent track too, so long as you've got the time to spare, and the Booklet and Music Video are nice little extras for those of us who can't quite stretch to the Limited Edition album. This one is definitely one to get!
it always takes a while
the blessing/curse cast on AYWKTBTTOD is that all albums they make get quite a few listens to get into... this one is taking a bit longer... and i kind of lost the desire to listen to it... make no mistake... this is a solid record, and there will be a plenty of ppl who will love it... just for a band that always seemed to spark magic, this record seems quite linear...
Buy this album!!!
Another superb album from the criminally underrated trail of dead.I have no idea why the music press hates this band I guess that anything different is considered bad in this age of music mass marketing.Do yourself a favour and buy worlds apart before this album you won't regret it.
