Album Review
Rhino's Tell the World: The Very Best of Ratt collects 20 tracks from the popular Los Angeles hard rock quintet's releases, ranging from the group's debut EP in 1983 to its self-titled 1999 comeback album. Fans who already bought 1991's Ratt & Roll 8191 have only the enticement of a couple of newer tracks like "Steel River" from 1997's Collage, 1999's "Over the Edge," and an MTV Unplugged version of "Way Cool Jr.," none of which are particularly memorable. That said, "Lay It Down," "Round and Round," "You're in Love, " "Slip of the Lip," "Wanted Man," and "Lack of Communication" are six of the best songs that the much maligned/beloved hair metal genre ever produced, and this collection, though padded with its share of misfires, is as good a retrospective of this talented band as you'll find anywhere.

Nobody else has written a review so i will. This music is from a time when you could write music that didn't have a lot of substance lyrically but was a lot of fun. A time when you could combine pop hooks with a metal guitar style and produce great music. Not all the songs on here are great which is why i gave it 4 stars but these guys could play - a fact that is often overlooked by people who like to have a dig at them.
Point Break
I don't know if I'd heard this song before but I certainly remember 'Nobody Rides For Free' as the closing soundtrack for one of my favourite movies of all time 'Point Break'. Its pure, anthemic, catchy, 80's power rock and was perfect for this film. I would buy this album just for this one song!
Good Stuff
I was far too young to appreciate Ratt in the 80s and from what I gather they are quite a derided outfit which surprised me a bit as there are plenty of good songs on this album. I became aware of Ratt after hearing Nobody Rides For Free on the Point Break soundtrack and I was hooked, for me this is the best track on here.
I also liked City To City, Round and Round, Shame Shame Shame and the unplugged version of Way Cool Jnr.
