iTunes Review
Megadeth’s lucky 13th studio album brings founding members Dave Mustaine and bassist Dave Ellefson together for the first time in 10 years. This reunion ensures the band is true to its roots. Enthusiasm reigns in the fresh grooves of the Al Capone–inspired “Public Enemy No. 1”, where the solos are both dexterous and heavily melodic. Megadeth has always been a cut above the metal crowd, and tracks such as “Sudden Death”, “We the People”, and “Guns, Drugs & Money” growl with both forward-moving riffs and a sense of hard rock history. The group’s roots in Dio, Alice Cooper, Montrose, Judas Priest, and others can be heard in its assurance and sense of ambition. Where other shredders often lose sight of the tune, Megadeth never sacrifices melody at the expense of speed or heaviness. “New World Order” is futuristic and classic. “Black Swan” carefully sculpts its riff to bring out the best in the rhythm section. Megadeth’s members are experienced pros who can run circles around the competition in their sleep. That the group still adheres to the standards of excellence it invented 25-plus years ago is the reason it’s still the band to beat.

'Th1rt3en' songs of pure gold
Megadeth's thirteenth studio album, named 'th1rt3en', has simply peaked Megadeth's beautiful career. It has proven that Dave Mustaine has still got the mind and the riffs to make a near perfect album. The boys have outdone themselves with this masterpiece that not only will have the classic fans moshing out, but new fans I feel will find something in this album they enjoy too.
Each track has something special about, whether it's the powerful opening track 'Sudden Death' which has elements of Rust in Peace in peace in it, or the toned down a notch 'Black Swan' which sounds like it could've been on Youthanasia, the album has a very strong and unstoppable force about it, however different it is to 2009's thrash dominated Endgame. A few tracks that shun out to me were 'Public Enemy No. 1', 'Never Dead', 'Whose life' and 'We the People', which all could easily be made singles and control the metal charts. The band also re-released two brilliantly perfect songs, 'New World Order' and 'Millennium of the Blind', both from 1994's album Youthanasia. The track that really made a huge impression on me though was '13', which is a much more slower paced, but still so wonderful song which finishes of the album, I hear bits of 'A tout le monde' on this track, and other classic Megadeth songs, and it makes me feel good, that Dave Mustaine can keep his classic metal alive and well.
All in all, this album is just as good as Endgame, and I believe that classic Megadeth fans will go as far to say it is better than Endgame, because I know I would.
A very worthy 5/5
Well done Mr. Mustaine, you've done it again.
Brilliant!
An unbelievably good album! A real mix of Thrash and Heavy Metal! The new tone of the guitar on Brodericks solos is very nice. Takes away the Endgame similarities. Safe to say this has wiped the floor with 'Lulu'.
Boring
this is a poor release after that great album End Game. This is like Risk Part II... Where's the threatening sounding songs? It's radio friendly post "thrash" from the mega boys again.
