Perhaps the greatest hip-hop album the UK could ever offer!!!
This is a must buy purchase!! The 4th Quarter has to be the best hip-hop album I ever purchased by any UK hip-hop artist period. I heard a DJ bigging it up on radio as a masterpiece and I must say I agree.. It carries a chic style with grooves that will keep any hip-hop heading bumping it till the cows come home (and they're a long way away..) The idea of dividing an album into sections which capture different essences of hip-hop styles is divine and Funky DL places himself carefully but naturally on each track as a lyricist. "The 3 Minute Preview" is a genius at work.. coming back from the future and finding yourself to have a conversation on a hip-hop track is a remarkable concept and is carried off effortlessly.. This is the perfect iPod album because the album is a journey hosted by a sexy suave female as the tour attendent.. So it makes great listening pleasure for taking your iPod on a trip.. It will take an immense effort for another UK act to top this anytime soon as this album sure is and will be timeless... A modern day classic..
Funky DL, The 4th Quarter
Most definately DL's best album, from cover to cover every song is deep, expressional and most of all funky.. i think the essence of each genre that influenced DL is captured within the four sections, My personal favourite track is Love, Honesty and Discipline as it captures everything i love about soul and Hip Hop. One of the best albums i have ever purchased and i urge more people to do the same. I cant believe more people havent written 5 star reviews.. peace out, chris.
