UK Driving Force

The title of this Album should be 'The Halfway Point'. A British band who forged ahead combining modern guitar driven rock with a smattering of technical effects. They were huge, and then they were gone. Steal your Fire sets the tone for the album, and whilst some of the album tracks are slower in tempo they are all well constructed true rock classics. The selection hides the fact that the albums were just so universally good across the board. And if you're reading this guys, dust off the Marshall racks and reform. The world needs fantastic vocals and screaming guitar licks.

Born Again Rocker

A brief word to praise both this album and the band GUN in general. When they first come to my attention I seem to remember there was a a huge amount of hype around bands coming out of Scotland. Texas were another huge band at the time and I recall seeing Gun live in Sheffield a few times, on one occasion there was agreat support called Slide. Better Days and Higher Ground are fantastic tracks, and still sound powerfull after all this time. One of the other reviews wonders what happened to them, a little light can be shed by checking out El Presidente (www.el-presidente.co.uk), bit of a rock/funk/dance hybrid who I think supported the Stones recently, imagine the offspring of a carnal meet between Scissor Sisters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers and your in the ball park, The gutarist from Gun is now guitarist and front man with El Presidente, nice work Dante. What a Band this lot were

Fantastic guitarists and a great vocalist contrived to make this band one of the best rock outfits of the last 20 years. Why they never made it huge I will never know. Their version of Word Up is extraordary for it's power and impact. However, the best thing about this band is that there were never any fillers on their albums - every track was really good. Personal favourties are Steal Your Fie, Shame on You and Seems Like I'm Losing you, but you should really buy all the albums to really appreciate them. Not sure what they are up to now, but I did hear their guitarist did some stuff with Robbie Williams.

A hard-rocking Glaswegian band, Gun first came to public attention in 1989 with their striking single "Better Days," a powerful driving rock thrash that stopped just short of the Top 30. "Better Days," along with follow-up "Money," formed part of their first album, Taking on the World (number 44). As ever, there have been the usual rock band lineup changes during Gun's recording history: two guitarists and two drummers have passed through, the nucleus being vocalist Mark Rankin and brothers Giuliano...
