Apparat - The Devil's Walk

Stunning album, loved every minute and has been worth the long wait!

Album of the year for me

If you like apparat's earlier stuff you'll love this.

Raw emotion at it finest....

The Devil Owns All The Good Music

Electronica - I'd normally cross the road to avoid it - but Apparat has converted this middle-aged disco-sceptic, in part because the vocals, both his and Anja Franziska Plascha who guest vocals on Good Bye, are almost angelic (was the Devil not a former angel?). And the beat, yes it's there but it doesn't dominate in a head-thudding way, it draws you in, lifts you a finger's breadth above the ground and holds you there. With the opening track, its mandolin and choir building gently, Apparat sets out his stall. He is a builder, he layers his music so subtly on some tracks you hardly notice it happen, and at the end of Your House Is My World he does the complete opposite stripping away the layers to leave just his distinctive vocal. Song of Los is the track that stands out but my opinion changes with each play, that's how good the whole album is. In fact as I write this Candil de la Calle is playing and it's now my favourite, actually make that Escape.... Prepare to be completely hooked.
