Pretty damn good!
Her Name Is Calla are amongst the bands who will hopefully lead the English music scene in a new direction. They are brilliant live, but also record very well (as this album proves). Their sound is mesmerising, and makes good use of dynamics in the same way you might expect from bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor. All around they are a talented bunch, with some beautiful vocal harmonies and melodies, awesome riffs and chilling droney aftermaths. The music is somewhat minimal considering they are a 6 or 7 piece band, and by that I mean their songs build up in a tasteful way making the most of every instrument, and, more often than not, delivering hugely satisfying climaxes.
