iTunes Review

It seems perfectly fitting that Manchester, England’s Doves would open for arena favorites such as U2, Coldplay and Oasis. Their Brit-pop, if it can be termed that, sounds perfectly compatible with the echoed grandiosity of the headliners. While they have only experienced limited success in the U.S., it isn’t from a lack of affable hooks or pleasing, deep-and-wide song dynamics. This “Best Of” collection features many of the tunes that their fans have come to expect. “There Goes the Fear”, “Black and White Town” and “Kingdom of Rust” are songs necessary for anyone to understand the band’s appeal. However, the inclusion of the new single “Andalucia” is a welcome addition to the catalog. Singer-bassist Jimi Goodwin, guitarist Jez Williams and drummer Andy Williams create a sound far beyond that of your average rock trio.

Outstanding!

Most bands, if they're lucky get one amazing single, or one anthem that people remember from Match of the Day...

For Doves however, every song on this collection can be counted in these categories. This album is simply stunning, from the Northern Soul stomp of 'Black and White Town' to the sheer Euphoria of 'There Goes the Fear' or new single 'Andalucia' via the quiet melancholy of 'Kingdom of Rust' or 'The Man Who Told Everything' Doves have been one of Britains' best bands for the last 10 years. Fact.

Treat yourself, you've been good this year right?!

Awesome

Awesome, I don;t usually buy greatest hits when I already have all their existing albums already but this is a must regardless of only one or two difficult to get hold of tracks on it.

Buy it, you will not be disappointed

Blinking awesome !

I have all the albums already but this deluxe version is actually stinking good value including all the videos.... Doves have got to be the best band of the last decade and thankfully stayed away from the 'bloke rock' of the likes of oasis and kasanian. Intelligent songs beautiful soundscapes ....I just love them !

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Before embracing Brit-pop in the late '90s, Doves' three members — vocalist/bassist Jimi Goodwin, guitarist Jez Williams, and drummer Andy Williams — figured prominently in the Madchester scene, where they scored a Top Five single as part of the dance combo Sub Sub. "Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)" peaked at number three in the U.K., but Sub Sub failed to produce any significant follow-up hits, and a fire destroyed their recording studio in February 1995. After taking several years to restructure...
