Charlotte Forever

The Gainsbourg heiress and Air join forces and deliver a beautiful single, both deliciously complex and instantly catchy. The lyrics are cool and confident, with a spaced out delivery reminiscent of, err, Jane Birkin's (references to Charlotte's unbeatable pedigree cannot be avoided). The sound is trademark Air: near-melancholic melody, sophisticated arrangements and a structure and bassline reminiscent of, err, Serge Gainsbourg. The talents of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel are not wasted here: the track is just as good as it should be.

French beauty strikes again.
