iTunes Review

Hot Chip deals in an aspect of electropop that too often goes uncelebrated: its feathery lyricism. The Warning, the London outfit’s second long-player, is a work of mischief that also makes plenty of room for straightfaced emotion. The title track’s glitchy shuffle folds in a nearly cooed request for directions to “the mechanical music museum” before interrupting itself with twee gangsta-isms (“Hot Chip will put you under the ground”), while “Look After Me” puts an Isleys-style guitar line in service of a lilting ballad. “Over and Over” is where the twain meet, spelling out the bare necessities: “K-I-S-S-I-N-G. S-E-X-I-N-G. C-A-S-I-O.” The album ends with something like an epic, “No Fit State,” followed by the brief “Won’t Wash,” which locates the museum’s foundation in the last minute of Syd Barrett’s “Bike.”

Customer Reviews

Great... but why the price?

This is a great album filled with upbeat and more laid back tracks. hot chip can definately be classified a as 'indie disco', indie music that you can dance to. best tracks are careful (my fave), colours, over and over and the warning (which features some pretty threatening lyrics)... but why the crazy price iTunes? you can pick this up for £8.99 in most high street stores and less on some websites. anyhoo I recommend fans of electronic music like mylo and also fans of new indie music like forward russia to check this out

brilliant

I love this album and could not wait for it to come out after hearing over & over. Theres not really a bad tune on there at all, it gets better & better after each listen. they are just something diffrent from the rest at the moment and there is a lot of cack out there at the moment especially from across the pond. Very underrated. BUY IT!

Cool

Chilled-out electronic funk. Cool Album cover!

Hailing from London, Hot Chip entered the picture with the release of their 2000 debut, Mexico. The EP was issued by Victory Garden Records, a label owned and operated by members of London's resident lo-fi psychedelic rock institution Southall Riot. The Mexico EP was a hypnotic wash of subtle — nearly subliminal — pulse-like techno beats, acoustic guitars, and plinky pianos, but the vocals were the true star of the show (no small feat in a musical climate overrun with disaffected Lou...
