A New Start With A Better Finish...
The Automatic have returned with their sophmore album, This Is A Fix, and with the former yourcodenameis:milo vocalist Paul Mullen, replacing former band member Alex Pennie, you could be mistaken for thinking this is a different band. Of course, the catchiness that first propelled The Automatic onto your radios and into our heads is still there, Magazines in particular a song which sets up shop in the back of your brain; but in a whole, there is a different feel. Rob Hawkins now shares vocal duties with Mullen, with James Frost still on backing vocals, and the trio works. In whole, this is a new Automatic, one which is looking forward and experimenting, attempting to show the world that they aren't just one hit "monsters". A must for every Automatic fan, and a must for every indie rock fan also with seamless songs searing out of this album.
Significant progression!
I enjoyed their first album. However since that they've got rid of the yappy/annoying/mad (delete as appropriate) keyboard player and recruited the guitarist/front man from mycodenameis:milos which has resulted in a much more mature, rockier and well rounded album. The single Steve McQueen is great and the rest of the album is excellent. Well done to the boyos!
Good Album
If you like their old album/songs. this is just as good. if not better. the new singer in magazines and this is a fix.. not quite penny but fits into the band well. Best songs if you dont want to buy the whole album- Steve McQueen. This is a Fix Magazines Accessories Bad Guy.
