iTunes Review

This British folksinger from the tiny fishing village of Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex, issued a debut album, Clocktower Park, in 2003 that received little notice but did nothing to stop Walsh from continuing her pursuit with a MySpace page and the support of producer Tim Bidwell, whose “house” served as her second album’s recording studio and album title. Bidwell keeps things simple, understanding that Walsh’s pure voice is what draws people in. Primarily, this is acoustic guitar and voice, with melodies that float above the standard progressions and underline Walsh’s deep, emotional commitment, as “Your Song” (no relation to the Elton John tune), “Talk of the Town,” “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Tonight” are straight from the heart pleas that nearly every young songwriter attempts, but few pull off with such poise and natural beauty. Strings appear in occasional doses (“Betty”). “Bury My Head” double-tracks her vocals for a sweet, dreamlike swirl that reaches to falsetto for its vulnerable spots. “French Song” uses a small band ensemble for an extra rhythmic bump. Tim’s House is a collection of little moments that expand with repeated listening.

Somewhere between Norah Jones and Kate Rusby

I stumbled across this artist when she was the single of the week on itunes and have loved her ever since. The album just gets better and better each time I hear it. The songs are beautiful and melodic but it's her voice that I love. It has a real purity about it that gets me everytime. Give her a listen and then do the sensible thing and buy her album.

Talk of the Town!

After hearing the iTunes single of the week 'Talk of the Town', I was instantly hooked by Walsh's soothing voice and calming acoustics. Your Song **** Sets the tone of the album. Talk of the Town ***** The best song on the album, though there are others that closely match it. Is This It? **** A Splendid summer tune. Don't Break My Heart **** Beautiful lyrics and song. Betty *** Not too keen on the introduction but still good. Bury My Head *** Like the harmony. French Song **** Up beating and charming. Tonight ***** Another great song on the album. Well worth a listen. Goldfish *** Fair but builds up well. Fireworks **** Excellent way to conclude the album. Walsh cracks the nut the second time round with a superb return album. With the voice of an angel and sweet melodies to match it, this has to be one of the finest acoustic albums around.

Outstanding

Saw her play live in Islington last night and she was truly fantastic. Have never seen an audience so captivated by a single voice and an acoustic guitar. Every song on this album is written from the heart, and delivered with an incredibly beautiful and controlled voice. It will defy belief if this girl does not make it big time.
