Great

Total return to form for Erasure, full of possible singles and memorable songs!

"Top Marks"

Great album boys, any chance that your next single could be "A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot" would like to hear some remixes of this tune.

Well worth the wait

I love the Frankmusik influence on this album, who has brough Erasure's sound kicking and screaming into the 10's.

It took some getting used to as gone are the usual layers of Andy's sweet choral vocals, and Vince's minimalist silky synth blip appegios, and in are Screaming, processed and singular vocal tracks, fighting for dominance over the pounding drums and wall of sound, wheel barrowed in by Frankmusik. In fact Vince's synths seem to have been beaten into 3rd place submission by the heavy compression and loudness processing. The result is though, surprisingly an exciting pumping electric shock of dance orientated pop.

Im always a little underwhelmed that Erasure's albums seem so short, I dont even think this one reaches 35 minutes, but I like most, pre-ordered the delux 2 CD version of this album to get the extra tracks and demo's and have only bought the single track 'Shot to the Heart' from this release, which for some reason doesnt seem to appear on any other release of the Album. Judging by the popularity of the song on iTunes, Im not the only one.

Standout tracks for me are 'A whole lotta love run riot', 'Then I go twisting' and the single 'When I Start To (Break It All Down), which I cant seem to get out of my head.
I cant wait to seem them live later this month now!.

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly eccentric Andy Bell — one of the first openly gay performers in pop music — as their focal...
