A passionate work of musical genius

This album changed my life.

At age 17,this album kickstarted my passion for all things Spanish - I have become an obsessed Spanophile (if there is such a word). I've learned the language (some of it anyway), got into the food, got into the dance (live Flamenco is like nothing else you will ever experience), got into the people and places (most of my holidays are in Spain). It also developed my love of string quartets - I've written a lot of music for string quartets.
It's also because of this album (and "Untitled") that I developed my love for Lorca, Brel, Walker Brothers (especially Scott), Spanish music (traditional and pop and in fact, world music generally) and opera (Carmen is referenced on "Beat out that rhythm on a drum"). I even have the covers as tattoos. (Thanks Val Denham!)
My all time favourite song is "The Animal In You". I love its variety and passion!
The whole album is a wild celebration (to quote Soft Cell) of life and love in all its forms. It's the one album from my many thousands that I'd save if my house was on fire. It has songs for any and every mood that you might find yourself experiencing. It's brought me much comfort and solace through difficult times as well as much happiness.
Buy this! You will be glad that you did! Who knows - it could change your life too!

at his peak

This double cd is not easy listening but it is very rewarding especially if you are suffering love loss. I have every Marc album and this has as Lorca would say 'Duende' the very essence and spirit of passion, set aside a few plays to be slowly seduced... The musicianship here is excellent the lyricism heartbreaking and the overall effect tremendous. No wonder Marc took a bull whip to the offices of a reviewer who dismissed it. This album is pure passion.
