Genuinely A Masterpiece

Firstly, this album is full of fantastic, dark rock sounds that explore the dark nature of Transformers. I'm not sure if the rock genre is for everyone but I like a bit of everything and this album delivered that for me. Songs like "Passion's Killing Floor" by H.I.M. is fantastic considering I'm no major rock/metal fan and it's songs like these that make me want to explore the artist(s) music. "This Moment" is another absolutely fantastic rock/metal song, again, by an artist I wouldn't usually listen too and it's songs like these that make me want to explore the artist more for more fantastic-sounding songs. Finally, on to the Transformers Theme by Mute Math. I've heard the likes of Black Lab's version of the Transformers Theme as well as MEATBEE's and I must say in their own rights, each song compliments the Transformers universe and overall original theme perfectly. Mute Math do an excellent job of giving a new, techno-rock sounding theme tune for Transformers. I understand that people have rated this album lower just because of this one song, which I think is absurd. Mute Math aren't trying to remake the original theme to overwrite it for all eternity, they are offering their version of the theme, which I think is different but in an extremely good way. It always reminds me of the real-life look of the Transformers in the live-action movie and makes me realise that Transformers is no longer just a cartoon, but now real, fully CGI-rendered masterpieces. Actually, I still need proof these things are just CGI they appear that real. Overall, this album is a masterpiece. I mean, for those giving this album a low rating who don't actually own this album, there really is no justification for them to do so. After buying this album on its day of release, there has not been a day I haven't listen to this album. Each song in their own right offers something special to the Transformers movie and overall universe. A fully deserved five stars.

Good effort

The Transformers are adored by millions upon millions, nothing will EVER beat the original sound track, Mute Math's effort is, however, really good as it's an awkward bold move to take on a song that is loved by that many. well done Mute Math! The other songs are also good, lining up to support what is hopefully gonna be an amazing film!

Soundtrack-by-numbers

Looking forward to the film, but the soundtrack could be (apart from the aweful Mute Math "theme" track) a generic summer blockbuster album for most films. Sure Linkin Park are great (get that album!), but it doesn't have anything truely amazing on it. I've seen this trend before (Spide-man 3 OST also), but maybe the music will strike a nerve when it's played against giant robots on the big screen. Hmpf.
