Wonderful! Buy it!!
A superb album.....beautiful, passionate performances. It doesn't get better than this.
Up and Down
Once again Liane Carroll delivers the goods ! The only thing better than the recordings is her live performances where she endears herself to the audience with witty chat inbetween beautifully sung songs. Although "covers" or as i prefer to call them re-interpretations, ( thanks Barb ! ) Liane does them her way,always adding to the song. Particular favourites are "Some Children See Him " and " What are you doing for the rest of your life" . A wonderful album from who I consider to be Britains finest female Jazz Singer and well worth adding to your collection.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
This is jazz singing at its best. Beautiful, emotional, soaring vocals with soul, heart, blood and guts. And fabulolus musicians too, demonstrating wonderful skills but also an intimacy, that the listener feels part of. Moanin' is a revelation -- Liane brings her bluesy legacy to it and makes it completely her own. I Can Let Go Now is so moving as to be almost unbearable to listen to. As for Turn Out the Stars, the saddest tune on the album, it's just perfect.
