Wonderful ensemble

My friend took me to see these guys at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester. Neither of us were familiar with their music but were absolutely astounded by how wonderfully good they were. I bought the record from the rather attractive accordian player (one of 10 musicians on stage) after the gig. The music is wonderfully uplifting and occasionally sad ('Brother'), and to my ears the style has much in common with the Arcade Fire, much more so than the much simpler sounding Mama's and the Papas. This has to do with 3 things: 1) the large number of instruments involved, which often build into a joyful crescendo, 2) the use of a co-starring female singer, and 3) the recording environment - big open plan L.A. houses where the band live. In any case, the album is brilliant. I listen to it and then listen again, and again, and again. Every song is a masterpiece and each fits together perfectly. Highlights are 'Janglin', 'Carries On', 'Home' and 'Desert Song'. I urge you to buy the album, and if possible to see them live.

No dissapointment from Edward Sharpe

I absolutely adore this album! Home is by far the happiest love song ever written. All the songs are beautiful and I recommend all of them. If you haven't seen them live then they're a must see!

cracking album

well worth buying even if i-tunes make you buy the song you got free again...

Employing a unique sound that brought to mind a not-so-subtle mix of Parliament, Polyphonic Spree, Bob...
