Album Review

Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer’s first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare “greatest-hits” collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it’s easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson’s beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy.

enya at her best

i love enya i was brought up on it and its sooooo relaxing. not everyone's cup of tea but in a house full of classical music - which i was never keen on this was a nice compromise. it makes me smile and i would thoroughly reccomend it!!

Beautiful

I've never thought of myself as an Enya fan but when I heard this streaming on the net one day I headed straight over to iTunes to buy it. The CD includes some of her older hits that first made her famous including 'Orinoco Flow' and 'Carribean Blue', but also some new sounds such as 'Only Time' and 'Drifting' which are two of the most beautiful relaxing songs I've ever heard. The CD also includes those stunning tracks from 'Lord Of The Rings, The Fellowship of The Ring' - 'May It Be' and 'Aniron', both songs are in Elvish/English and are really amazing. 'Aniron' you may remember is the Love Theme for Arwyn and Aragorn, anyways - I do recommend this album especially for fans of Clannad, Loreena Mckennit and Heidi Berry.

The fantastic voice of Enya haunts your soul, she has a great voice made for the digital age as this gives it the clarity for her recordings . Check out Carbbean Blue, and Amarantine, her videos are great also! A true artist with solid celtic roots, any song you download will relax and free your mind of junk, so why not detox.... you owe it to yourself.

With her blend of folk melodies, synthesized backdrops, and classical motifs, Enya created a distinctive style that more closely resembled new age than the folk and Celtic music that provided her initial influences. Enya is from Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland, which she left in 1980 to join the Irish band Clannad, the group that already featured her older brothers and sisters.
