gr8 magnum album one of the best next 2 storyteller! keep ur night light burning boys!!!!

let there be pomp rock

This was magnum's first record after signing a new record deal with polydor. This was Magnum, renewed, revitalised, and with a much more radio friendly american(ish)/mainstream sound. Produced by Roger Taylor of Queen fame, this is an album that from start to finish impressess you with the shear scale of each song and excellent production. One of my most listened to of Magnum's albums there is not a duff track on here. It is start to finish brilliance.

Magnum's Finest Hour

For me this was Magnum's greatest!! I would listen to this over and over in my room as a kid and never tire of it's combination of punchy rock and classic ballads. If this album included the song "The Spirit" it would be one of the greatest recordings ever compiled. I listen to and favour other bands and musicians (being a musician myself) but this one album has that special something which makes an all time classic. Don't get me wrong, I do have all Magnum's collection since the beginning (no pun intended) and am a lifetime fan so I rate all their compositions, but never really a mega fan. BOTTOM LINE? If you don't have this and you appreciate truly good Rock music, YOU WANT IT !

Biography

Formed: 1975 in Birmingham, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s

Hard rockers Magnum got their start in Birmingham, England, in the mid-'70s. The band's first album, Kingdom of Madness, came out in 1978, right in the midst of the punk rock musical revolution. That timing may be one factor contributing to the band's unknown status. 1979 saw the release of Magnum II. After extensive gigging, the group released Marauder, a live album in 1980, and Chase the Dragon came two years later. Going back to their "album-a-year" pace, The Eleventh Hour was released in 1983....
