Album Review

Digging deeply into Huey Meaux's vaults, we come up with the geographically linked (everybody's from Texas) compilation, largely centered around six live duets between Sahm and Fender. Fender checks in with six other sides, mostly R&B covers; Sahm also contributes two more tracks of his own in addition to his duet work. The collection closes with five sides by Floyd Tillman, a true honky-tonker to the bone. His takes on "Slippin' Around" and "I Love You So Much It Hurts" are Texas country frozen in time, classic in their execution. A quirky but very interesting collection.
