Great UK Album
This album was a big suprise, I wasn't expecting anything much outside the typical gun talk you hear from most UK artists, but Giggs brings more to the table. His word play and rhyme schemes are on par with the best of them.
Giggs is so far ahead of anything in the UK he is lapping the others (SWAY needs to catch up)
If you're talking the most ground breaking, boundary pushing, crass and foul mouthed, most talented young rapper to come out in 2008 globally.. Giggs better pop up in your thoughts as an artist. My version may not rhyme as well as his first line in his now famous "Freestyle" - ''Talking Da Hardest' but it is factual. Giggs (aka Hollow Man) is a gem of rapping skill and technique who will no doubt be loved and immitated the world over. This is not 'Family friendly' and to be honest some of his content is down right shamefull, but Hollow Man means to disgust you. He means to drag you down the dark corridors to the room where the grime and grit of the nightime London theatre plays out and show you the musical youth of his generation. This is the real - ist it gets in the UK and Giggs delivers it slowly, but very very well. Its not really a negative to hear that the artists who feature on your tracks are the one thing that lets your album down, its sort of a backward compliment. Saying that though its almost like Giggs knows this. Some of the artists are used to (as he says himself) "warm the track up", and for the most part it works. You see Hollow Man may have a foul mouth and I do not condone anything he says, but he is a raw talent and an amazing lyricist. When you add the South London accent it makes his style and voice completely unique and his timing is ingeniuos. He knows this and like a girl who wants to make the biggest impact at a party, he arrives with a bunch of really minging birds! While I appreciate the treat this gives when Giggs finally enters a "warmed up" track, but it does mean some tracks, (Tempa Tempa excluded - Kaiser does a great job on this) are below parr. That aside, this is the 2008 UK equiv of NWA's F**k The Police and Giggs would and should have become just as big as they did, except its British and so will not get the marketing budget it deserves. Cut Up Bag, is a dark, moody but altogether ground breaking "film score" of a tune which except for Hollow Man's unfortunate spiel at the end leaves you wondering whether you actually heard someone so frankly talk about Class A in a world where rappers have dared only to admit to the 'green'. Giggs pushes the boundaries and tracks like Swagger, Ummmm!!, and the signature Walk in Da Park are examples of how he does that with a flow un-matched in the UK and my humble opinion in the world.
Best UK rapper
Miles ahead of any other UK rapper at the forefront at the moment, finally some SWAGGER and solid character
