Great Soundtrack to the BEST film of 2009 - if not the decade!
i read the book and loved it, saw the film and loved it and, surprisingly, fell in love with the soundtrack. every song fits perfectly into the film (such as the Comedian being beaten up to the ironically mellow 'Unforgettable'), and special mention has to be made for Bob Dylan's 'Times They Are A-changin', which perfectly matches the opening credits. This is a great collection of tunes and , perhaps shockingly to some, MyChem's 'Desolation Row' actually fits fantastically instead of sounding disjointed. To hear these great songs in context, see Watchmen ASAP!
Timeless songs, great well thought out selection...
...and a sensible choice for a movie that doesn't want to be every other superhero flick!!! Look at this collection of Tracks, Dylan, My Chemical Romance covering Dylan another Dylan cover in All Along The Watchtower and then a load of greats, Simon and Garfunkel, Billie Holiday, the original Hallelulia. Tracks which span the time that the characters lived their lives as super heroes in this movie, I already own mostly all these tracks but what a great set of songs, the movie is supposed to have a timeless appeal and just from this soundtrack I can see why, for anyone who doesn't now these songs then take the time to listen to them they are mostly before my time but songs that over the years I have grown to love. I give this 5 stars because almost every track on it's own individual merit deserves a 5. I can really see this soundtrack staying up there as a classic album in it's own right with the likes of Reservoir Dogs, Good Morning Vietnam, Forest Gump and Trainspotting, I thought I was going to be dissapointed with a load of Ameican 'Emo' and throwaway pop that is often associated with the Hollywood output of today but what a pleasant surprise. The Superhero movies are becoming more and more popular and now at last one with an intelligent soundtrack to match the hype.

The song in the trailer for Watchmen is The Begining Is The End Is The Begining by the Smashing Pumpkins (which is the b side to The End Is The Begining Is The End which is the one used in Batman & Robin!) Anyway, some great songs here that fit the mood of the film perfectly.Though I'm sure I heard Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears in one scene, which should have been included. Worst track is My Chemical Romance, but that's on when the credits are rolling so you can avoid.
