Phil Gould's best work yet!!
As awe inspiring as his Level 42 work was in the 1980s, Phil Gould has exceeded even those high standards with this sublime Album (surely the best release of 2009). Kicking off with "Colour of my Pain" - maybe Phil's best ever song, the quality of this album never slips as one near perfect track is followed by another. Chief vocalists Mike Lindup and Bernice Scott are simply incredible whilst Phil's drumming has sent me to a state of wondermint.
This Album is more important than oxygen, makes your ears purr like a cat and hugs your soul with a warm embrace. In a word - divine!!
Phil Gould - Watertight
I'll sum it up for you in one word; FANTASTIC!!!
Every song on this album is so catchy and It'll keep you playing it over and over!
It's what it says on the tin....
You just can't help but 'get' it. Very clever, and brilliantly arranged from start to finish. Lyrically engaging, this album certainly is thought provoking, with 'Clour Of My Pain' hitting particularly hard. A technical tour-de-force on several fronts, with unusual time signatures employed on several tracks, just going to prove that music need not always be 4/4 to get a groove going. The drumming on this album is fantastic, proving that Phil is as we expected, a 'meister'. The whole album is mixed with a 'warm' less clinical feel, and it's dynamics are left to shine through. The Lyric Doctor has landed!
