Buy this!
Gorgeous laid back beats reminiscent of Mos Def's recordings on Rawkus and in Blackstar - the remix of Respiration from those days is lovely. This is not as complex in its orchestration and sampling as The Ecstatic - but this simplicity is what makes this a beautiful hip-hop record. If you liked Blackstar, or Common's "Resurrection" you will like this. Buy it.
good, but really for completists.
yeah... just to be clear, this is part of a 4-disc compliation of his early stuff from the rawkus era. like when black star came out in the late 90's. it's good, but if you're expecting stuff withe the finesse of The Ecstatic (or Black on Both Sides... or even Black Star) look elsewhere. this is for fans who want to hear all his songs ever released or are curious about his early work.
also, it's worth pointing out that this compliation has been floating around in other forms (vinyl, cd, internet) for approximately a decade... this label just got hold of the rights and is trying to cash in. mos won't get any money from this
