Irreverent Brilliance
This album is a collection of songs old and new that have delighted crowds up and down the country for the last few years. Hard-working and constantly touring, Whiskycats plough an irreverent furrow somewhere south of ska, with an instinctive ear for what makes a catchy tune and a staunch refusal to take themselves too seriously. The album accurately recreates the fun and joviality of a Whiskycats gig, with constantly uplifting results. Old favourites like Amsterdam and In This Chair blend wonderfully well with newer compositions such as Slipped Disco, and now that they're all together on one album, the result is a riot of fun brass, dancy, funky basslines and witty lyrics ("Lady ambition never flirts with me...in my little bubble, skint but happy"), with enough variation between tracks to mean there is never a dull moment. Essential listening.

Saw these guys at the Manchester Academy. I was not sure what I was going to see, but loved it so much!!! Got the album and it sounds just as great sober as it did at the gig after a few beers!!
