iTunes Review

Eight years since their previous studio album, 2003’s We’ve Come For You All, and the group’s first album with singer Joey Belladonna since 1990’s Persistence of Time, Worship Music has the distinction of being a true comeback for one of thrash metal’s original practitioners. Initial recordings were made with vocalist Dan Nelson, but his tracks were scrapped and several new songs were added to the album. “Earth On Hell” establishes that the band has lost none of their speed or their power, though the tune dovetails quite nicely into various tempos. “Judas Priest” is a worthy tribute to the seminal heavy-metal band. “The Devil You Know” settles into a cruising speed. “Fight ‘Em Til You Can’t” stomps with ferocity and solid guitar histrionics. “I’m Alive” is a dynamic track that allows Belladonna to straddle the band as they buck ahead, proving that sometimes age and experience can really play a hand in ensuring that an idea takes shape. This music doesn’t just attack; it often swings. There’s even extensive video footage chronicling the making of the album.

Simply awesome

Anthrax are back and getting better with age. The long awaited Worship Music is out and the wait was well worth it, this album is just immense. Earth on Hell is just insane and the whole band just gel together to put out what has to be THE metal release of 2011. Rob has become a very big part of the band on this album, his solos are just fantastic and Joey's vocals fit in perfectly. It's like he's never been away from the band. A definite 5 stars from me. This one won't be leaving the car stereo for quite some time.

Bloody awesome guys ;)

An epic album from one of the greats

At last, a proper follow up to Persistence In Time. I've been waiting 21 years for Anthrax to write this album, There's a real feeling of quality with every song and the production is really hard to fault. Strongly recommend to any lover of good music.

Nearly as much as Metallica or Megadeth, Anthrax were responsible for the emergence of speed and thrash metal. Combining the speed and fury of hardcore punk with the prominent guitars and vocals of heavy metal, they helped create a new subgenre of heavy metal on their early albums. Original guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz were a formidable pair, spitting out lightning-fast riffs and solos that never seemed masturbatory. Unlike Metallica or Megadeth, they had the good sense to temper their often...
