This version was released by Goldenlane Records on 1 May 2009 as a 1-track CD. Track runs for 4m50sec and is just described as 'Wouldn't It Be Good'. Quite obviously a different recording to the original, but not sure whether it's 20 years old or something newer. Do agree, it is a decent version.

When was this recorded....

This is not the orginial version of the song does anyone know when its recorded its nice as a different version....

Would It Be Good 25 Years On? Indeed It Is!

I can confirm that it is indeed a recent recording of the song by Nik. Being the keen Kershaw fan that Iam I was pleasantly surprised to find this version on iTunes recently.

Apparently, Nik was asked by US company San Juan Music to re-record WIBG and the brief was to make it as close to the original as possible. San Juan Music would then licence the track to record companies who specialise in tracks re-recorded by the original artists. However, in no way was it ever an attempt to "improve on the original".

I have since spotted that both Goldenlane Records & Cleopatra Records have used the track in their 80's compilations, along with re-recordings by Howard Jones, Paul Young, etc.

Whilst I personally don't believe any cover version or re-recording will ever beat the original this is however a quality recording of the song and it just demonstrates how well Nik's vocals have withstood the test of time.

But don't just check out this song, have a listen to his more recent stuff too. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

During the mid-'80s, Nik Kershaw managed to score a handful of pop hits and, in doing so, establish himself as a profitable commercial songwriter. Kershaw began his musical career by learning to play guitar when he was a teenager. In 1974, he joined his first band, Half Pint Hogg, which played nothing but Deep Purple covers. However, his musical ideas were not limited to heavy metal; after he left school, he joined a jazz-funk band called Fusion. Fusion released one album,...
