iTunes Review

Ne-Yo’s third full-length finds him moving away from R&B and towards acoustic-and-piano-driven pop in the mold of “Take A Bow” and “Irreplaceable”, the hit singles he wrote for Rihanna and Beyonce. Similar to those massive hits, new songs like “Mad”, “Part of the List”, “and “Back to What You Know” take a momentary feeling or point of communication between two people and use it to represent the emotional upheaval of a breakup. As much as Ne-Yo embraces pop songwriting and instrumentation, the best moments on Year of the Gentleman incorporate elements of R&B. “Closer” and “Miss Independent” maintain the rushing pulse of club music without becoming bombastic, while the smooth dance cut “Nobody” looks to the always-relevant Michael Jackson for inspiration. Better still are the slow burning “Single” and “Lie To Me”, both of which demonstrate Ne-Yo’s ability to convey emotions that bubble just under the surface of everyday interactions.

Ne-yo Year Of The Gentlemam

Well what can i say Ne-yo has done it again in my own opinion with Closer and Miss Independent about to be released soon he has mixed love songs and funky beats together to make a very every gd album.Track 1 - Closer - no one can argue that when you heard this songs you just want to get up on your feet and dance the night away .Track 2 - Nobody - this song has a really funky beat to it and i expressing how this woman is amazing and no ones like her and at the start i fought Micheal Jackson was singing. Track 3 - Single - to be honest this song at the start i wasnt to keen on but it has grown on me and thats all i can say on that one. Track 4 - Mad - this is my favourite song on the album its bout couples argue in and not sorting out their problems before their go to sleep and makes the matter worse the songs i really meaning full. Track 5 - Miss Independent - well just aanother Great song by Ne-yo enough said. Track 6 - Why Does She Stay - probably the only song on the album im not to keen on to slow in bits. Track 7 - Fade Into the Background - really really good has a wicked beat and its a song that you would love to hear just as your leaving a club with you girl and get you in the mood for a great night in the bed. Track 8 - So You Can Cry - gd song but thats all really. Track 9 - Part Of The List - i love this songs very lovey dovey but lyrics are really good and shows how much talent Ne-yo actually has in song writing. Track 10 - Back To What You Know - good beat and song you can dance to and easy listening .Track 11 - Lie to Me - i heard this once and loved it and looking forward to listening to it more. Track 12 - Stop This World - just a beautiful song. Track 13 - What's The Matter - ok i guess bit average
