You've Got To! Really!

Let it be said, I hate clowns. They have little comical value and as I write I am slightly worried that the clowns will indeed get me. However, this is not about clowns; not directly at any rate. I'm not too fond of dance music either, not to mention mixes, remixes, mash-ups or any other artificial insemination of pure music, let alone those songs that have dreadful package holiday dance routines and crop up at every wedding, christening and prom for all eternity. Yet here I am giving “You've Got To” by the Young Punx five stars: a song that bestows the necessity to 'mash it and trash it and torture the sound' accompanied by a video containing dancing clowns – yes – clowns performing one of those dreadful package holiday dance routines… All this aside, I imagine that the song has a very long and worthy shelf life on the party circuit. It will have everyone dancing and singing along. “You’ve Got To” is incredibly catchy - a great song by a very talented and fun band. You should buy it. Otherwise the clowns will get you.

Lock it, and load it, and aim for the heart!

This has to be one of the best records of the year! I first heard it on the FIFA 07 computer game wher it stood out with its infectious driving spirit. Now there is even a Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) remix which samples Many Chao to go with it. I hope this is a big song for the summer.

Fantastic stuff

fantastic track. Saw The Young Punx live recently and they were wicked. This also has one of the best Norman Cook Mixes ever.

Formed: 2003 in London, England

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '00s

From their ironic obsession with the cheesiest elements of 1980s pop culture to their conceptual focus on media satire and pop culture in-jokes, the Young Punx are both aptly named and a credible pair of dance music provocateurs in the manner of Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, aka the Timelords and the KLF. (Indeed, one suspects that this London-based duo has read Drummond and Cauty's tongue-in-cheek recipe for pop success, The Manual [How to Have a Number One the Easy Way], more than once.)
