3DON® ARchitecture makes models mobile with Augmented Reality
This App is the revolutionary way to examine your building designs. For the first time architects, planners and other building professionals can see how their proposals will look in true context. Our product uses the increasingly popular Augmented Reality concept to place 3D models in position using GPS data supplied by you.
By downloading our application to your iPhone (see www.3don.co.uk for more details) you will be opening up a new world of possibilities.
Key features:
Submit your model (currently only KMZ format) to our website, then use these modes to check and explore your model on your iPhone or iPad:
- Preview mode – See your model and simply use your finger to move the model around in 3D. You can also create a photo montage yourself by using location photographs on your device and place your model over the top of them. Then take a screenshot and save to your photo roll to print or send on.
- ‘Walk’ mode - where you can use the phones geographical features to explore the model by using your phone as a viewer, tip up and view the guttering, tip down and view the flooring!
- ‘On Site’ mode - where your models geographical location is used to locate it on site, so you can drive to site and actually see the model in location through your device (subject to the platforms GPS accuracy)
Imagine seeing your building as though it’s already there. Not only can you view your designs in real time from any location you choose through your iPhone screen, you can record and capture the imagery for future use.
3DON® offers you the chance to simplify the design process by letting you take control of how and when to review your projects. It can be used to speed up the planning process by offering a unique insight to the future and can help to identify potential costly issues at an early stage.

What's New in Version 1.0.3
Updates and improvements in this version:
- You can now go back to the Menu from the ‘Rotate & Zoom’ and ‘Explore’ modes to select a different model. No need to restart the app.
- Enabled Multi-tasking. you can now use other features on your iPhone / iPad and 3DOn Architecture will remain open in the background. When you revisit the app you will be returned to the current status. Also an incoming call can be handled with the session remaining open.
- Re-enabled the 'Choose Background Image' feature on iPad. Previously it was not possible to load a background photograph on the iPad2
- Camera view now fills all available screen space when in landscape.
- Enabled forward and back (Z-Axis) rotation in On-Site Mode. Due to customer feedback a function has been added that allows the user to tilt the model in every plane. Very useful for setting up views from an elevated position.
- Performance enhancements. The app will no longer attempt to draw faces not visible to the user. This should improve model loading times and improve performance of larger, more complex models.
