Description

Blue Planet shows you wonderful satellite imagery of the Earth as your desktop background. The map changes live as the sun travels across the sky, illuminating different parts of the world and leaving others in the shadow of the night.

• Choose from four gorgeous maps.
• Let Blue Planet track the current time or simulate the course of the seasons manually.
• Save screenshots of the current view of the map.
• Place the Blue Planet Icon in the Dock or in the menu bar.
• Use Apple's Core Location technology to show your current location on the map.
• Center the map on your location or have it follow the sun's course across the sky.
• Launch Blue Planet automatically when you start your Mac (optional).

A gorgeous app

I love this app, it makes my desktop look amazing and is very useful for me (as an Earth Scientist) because it means I always have a map infront of me. It's also handy when thinking about time zones, you can quickly see what time of day it is all around the world.

I've only given it four stars because about it doesn't appear to play nice with multiple desktops. The transition is slightly jarring and it'd be nice if I could restrict it to one desktop.

That's about the only thing that puts me off about the current implimentation but, as another reviewer mentioned, I'd love to be able to see more data, particularly recent cloud cover. Watching hurricanes and large storm systems on my desktop would be cool!

Add country names

I like this map. It is really cool and the bug is fixed. But I think it would be nice if there was an option to add country names to the map

NOT WORTH 2.99

I was very disappointed with this its just a big picture that you cant zoom in or out or move for that matter. The only thing it does is show the time lapse of the world and who is to say how accurate that is. VERY DISSAPOINTING!!!!! I have got apps on my mac that i paid nothing for that are more impressive. I feel ripped off!!!!
