Chosen by Apple for "Apps for the Great Outdoors"

"Identifying a bird by its song is fun and satisfying and this app is a great help" - The Telegraph, 500 Must-Have Apps

"Equal parts wildlife guide and feel-good pick-me-up" - The Guardian, "Top 10 Green Apps"

Chirp! includes songs and calls for 260 birds, and includes special features such as a ‘human translation’, to tell you what the bird is actually saying.

The identification and learning of bird songs can be hard, but not with Chirp!. A short description and helpful tips are given for each song or call, as well as a photo of each bird. Birds can be sorted by commonness, so you can listen to the most common ones first, then move on to rarer species. Or sort by song style, so that you can compare birds that hoot and coo, or those with high pitched songs for example. You can also sort by name, habitat or bird group.

After listening, try the quiz to test your memory. Answer fast to earn a score multiplier and get on the high score table. Experienced birders can use the custom quiz to help distinguish and learn similar songs.

The slideshow section can be used as a way to relax, or switch the voiceover on and see if you can say the name of the bird before the voiceover. This is a good way of competing with the family - who can say the name of the bird first?!

Includes birds from Britain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Miss Yellow Beak! ,

Such a superb app!

This app is perfect for anyone trying to discover, improve or polish up their bird identifying skills. An easy-to-use reference, you can search bird song by habitat or name and then access information and sounds with great ease. It even includes song variants for certain birds and includes alarm calls!
The slideshow is also a great feature as you can select a stream of bird song (as chosen by yourself) and then a slideshow will play bird song and then give identity which bird you have just heard. I have this on in the background whilst I’m working sometimes and have found it an extremely useful tool to help me recognise and remember bird songs...and the quiz is a great way to test yourself! A very recommended app!

One of the best!

It may not yet have as many birds as it could but I cannot fault it if you want to learn to recognise birds by song. The quizzes are invaluable ranging from simple to difficult and the option of personalising it to deal with your own foibles. It is fast and easy to use with clear photos. I have used it to confirm a bird I thought I was seeing and used it often as a teaching aid for my birding group. Well done. Keep adding to it!

Discovered local birds I did it know for sure were there!

Great and useful app, which helped me discover the presence of some elusive birds, for example a Goldcrest in my neighbourhood!
The only “problem “ are the localised song variations which are impossible to cover fully, but which can be confusing for less experienced birdwatchers/listeners like me!
