Nice, but get laggy in late game

On a 2013 iMac, the game gets increasingly laggy the more cities you own. By the late game, even founding a new city will take up to a minute to process! And barbarians processing also takes over a minute, per turn! If they could fix the lag, it would be a 5 star game, but until then it's practically unplayable in late game.

Recent updates crash quite regularly, make sure you manually save game every few turns. Suprising considering how long the game has been availble for that such bugs are still present.

Now, on to the good points… Graphics are much better than previous versions, and there's lots more to see and do. The old transport boats are gone (although there are still aircraft carriers), instead you reserach tech that allows any unit to cross water. I thought I'd miss transports, but this new method is much more intuitive. Unit management is nicely polished, with well implemented features for upgrading, repairing and attacking, etc. City screens are generally easy to use, although a bit clunky in places. Overall, a very good edition of Civ… if they would just fix that lag issue in late game!!

Fun But Runs HOT HOT HOT

This is a fun game.. and im not wanting to take anything away from it.. graphics and smoothness of gameplay brillaint. However… i’ve been running this on a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2014 (Top Spec | Model:A1398) and I’ve been having some serious temperate issues. I downloaded ‘Temperate Gauge’ (£3.99 | Mac App Store) just to monitor some of the fan speeds and CPU/GPU and i found that it was running hotter than ive ever seen… one or two of the CPU reaching 100C/210F+ and fans constantly running at 5000+ speeds. I don’t know whether this is just a problem for laptops but ive never seen this issue and i primarily use my mac for graphic design / web building / video editing / audio editing. i’ve played other games on this mac and again never had these stats.

So just a heads up before purchasing. This will have you MBP/R Running Hot, Really Hot.

P.s fiddled with the game settings. No Improvements

Game was fine until I updated it....

Game is fun to play. Addictive. And now its been ruined...
I was playing this ame until 2 days ago. Then I made the mistake of updating it (5.6GB size) for a "minor" bug fix. Now I cannot load any of my save games. Says DLC not purchased.
How could I play this game until the update, and now not continue a game that I set up using basic content, not a DLC scenario??
I think instead of fixing minor bug, the update has introduced a major bug.
Stay well clear of the Update.
