Terrible

Having subscribed to this magazine for years I decided to jump to digital. Which was totally fine, however this apps’s designers have decided not to supply the digital subscribers to the collectors front page art! Why? We pay to have exclusives whilst print still gets the wonderful art of front pages! I’ve emailed many times but they’ve ignored me. Instead I get front page explosions and smoke effects like some kid who got the Beano for Christmas!

Ugh.. this app nearly put me off the magazine..

So I had a subscription bought for me, followed the instructions and activated online (it can’t be done in app) then tried to log in.. told me I didn’t have an account... only after contacting support did I find I need two accounts.. one to redeem my subscription, another to actually log in to the app and use it.. so I went through that AWFUL journey only to then find the app is a nonsensical nightmare to navigate. For some reason I access my issues through the store button? While the home page continues to offer me the chance to purchase issues through iTunes despite the subscription I have... the newsfeed tab is forever empty as is the latest film news button on the home page. Happily the magazine is a little easier but disappointingly basic and is basically a pdf in the app from what I can see.. you guys should check out what wired and the other Conde Naste titles do with their apps! Saved only by the fact Empire is a great magazine. App Developers should be replaced though .

A once adequate App, gone bad

This app used to be fine, now it is terrible. It takes a long time to download an issue, but you have to be inside the app, no background downloading outside of the app! You can no longer start to read an issue whilst it is downloading and it tends to forget which page you were on and actually just refreshes the issue putting you back on the cover page!
Plus now it keeps removing the issues I have downloaded and shows issues with a price, until i hit the Restore Purchases again, which thankfully updates the issues to show the Download button at least. What has happened to this app?!

Empire is a fantastic magazine and I’ve been reading for over 20 years, but I’m seriously considering unsubscribing due to the now awful App.
