EyeEm - Photography 12+

I keep going back and discover some really great images, and photographers, that are now amongst my favourites. It is a wealth of inspiration for me, and this is why I love and use it.
I have sold a couple of pictures there too, but you have to keep in mind, that buyers will want to use them commercially, so you have to be selective of what you are uploading, and think of how your images could be used if you want to make some money out of it (meaning: don’t be disappointed if your bathroom selfie or cat pictures won’t make it to the market) However, do not rely on it for a source of income! If you are professional, you better be present on many other agencies and platforms, if you are a hobbyist, you better look at it as a learning source, and use it as help to improve your skills.

Absolutely the easiest App I have on my phone and by far the one I use most (replacing Pinterest). It’s photographs by people with such a diverse range of interests that you can’t help wander around and find inspiration for the next project. Reviews are taking a little longer these days but that’s probably because it’s more popular and there’s simply more to review.

Well done the EyeEm team and don’t be bought out by jealous rivals, you have the recipe bang on and I wish you every success on your own.

Nice app, but not a service that benefits either photographer or artist. Like so many virtual, internet-related services, it is paramount that the professional or even serious hobbyist look at the who-benefits factor! EyeEm as a company benefit very well indeed with the top-end benefit principle applied. It’s the mass market, economy-of-scale idea gone a bit crazy: those who supply all the work EyeEm has centred its business nerve centre around get tuppence ha-penny, whilst the ‘real’ money for the photographers’/artists’ ‘virtual’ input goes only to EyeEm to sustain their crew of few. No-one is going to buy individual rights’ protected images at single image cost; search-word targeted portfolios are sold with often hundreds of thousands of images. The portfolio gets the money, the single image does not (2 pence here and there). Now, all you artists and photographers out there mostly know about this; just don’t think you’re going to make any money out of this, as the idea that is peddled is not yours but EyeEm’s. That’s all.
