Does Google know what they changed?
Updates like this reduce my faith in the software. Google Earth's version number has jumped from 3.2.0 to 6.1.0 to bring us mere "Bug fixes". How buggy was the software that the version number doubled while fixing its bugs? It was a bit slow on my second-generation iPod Touch, but not this bad. Now it takes longer to load the app, scrolls more jerkily, rarely finishes loading the map images, and even gave me a low-memory warning.
Google has clearly changed more than "Bug fixes" would suggest. They could have used the "What's New" box to tell us what they'd changed and warn users of older iPods not to update, but instead it seems as if they don't know or don't care to tell us what they did to the software.
