Description
Do you live in London, or are you planning on visiting? Want to travel using the famous “London Bus” network? Have an Apple device with GPS functionality?
Then London Bus Buddy is the application for you! With more than 100,000 downloads, this comprehensive iPhone app includes information on all 19,000+ stops that TFL maintains, and also provides some great features including:
- Countdown (powered by TFL), which allows you to see when your next bus is coming.
- A snooze alarm that will tell you when you're close to your destination. This feature can work in the background (special configuration is needed for iOS 5 to allow notifications).
- Journey planning that can find both the quickest path and the path with the fewest changes. There are two versions: an online one powered by TFL (a faster, more accurate planner that allows walking) and offline one (planning between bus stops)
- The quick and easy ability to locate London Bus stops near you or near a postcode.
- A "display" option that lets you see any London Bus route or stop on a map
- "History" of all the recent stops you've been to as well as caching of recent journeys you've planned (for quick retrieval if you reenter the same stops)
- Integration with the Maps app on your iPhone
- And more!
And all of this is FREE! So what are you waiting for? Download it now! And contact lakshbhasindeveloper@gmail.com if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. London Bus Buddy is not-for-profit. Revenue made off advertisements will go to Muskaan - a charity in India that helps teach underprivileged children.
Location Services Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
What's New in Version 2.1
Countdown (or “Next Bus”)
- Powered by TFL, you can now see when your next bus is coming by entering a stop. You can check stops from a list of all 19,000 stops or look from a list of stops near you.
Online Journey Planning
- Also powered by TFL, the online journey planner gives way more accurate results than the offline one.
- It lets you plan journeys from/to places of interest, addresses, postcodes, or stops (instead of just from/to stops).
- It also lets you walk between stops, something the old journey planner couldn’t do. A walking map is available for each leg of your trip that involves walking (see the little map button).
Alarm fixes
- Please follow the instructions on how to get the background mode working with alarms! See http://londonbusbuddy.wordpress.com (support blog) for more
- Optimized the alarm a bit so it doesn’t try to find excessively accurate coordinates when you’re far away from your destination. The location manager becomes more accurate as you get closer to your stop.

Customer Reviews
Great app
A must have. Excellent app
Generally ok but with an annoying issue
Quite good, although there are better dedicated apps for route finding and live bus times. Reported a bug to the developer which causes the battery to drain rapidly if you've been looking at a bus route and close the app. Looks like others have found the same issue. Did get a response and sounds like it will get fixed at some point, and then I'll be more inclined to use the app
Found it helpful
We were in London early January and found this app helpful in following the route we were on. It helped locate bus stops near us, and where they went
