This is a useful timesaver to order items directly within the app, arrange delivery options like using a pickup point or direct to your home with next day delivery or just regular delivery. However, I feel there’s a significant problem? I’m gutted to find Nespresso have a minimum order of 50 capsules! This puts me right off particularly when I’m unfamiliar with their range. I would prefer dipping in now and then to try out packs of 10 capsules and not fork out for 50 capsules per order. I can’t budget like that. The problem with paying for a bulk order does not allow me to spread my coffee drinking budget over time from week to week which would better suit my financial circumstances. I don’t live near a boutique to otherwise purchase pods. So, Nespresso have missed out on my repeat custom and I only buy accessories from them these days. Just imagine how much business they’re missing? Coffee pods are a consumable. If the options to buy pods were more accessible to new customers, I reckon Nespresso would retain more folk buying this very popular consumable. In my experience, people are so used to the availability of groceries that the trend to do a monthly shop is outdated. But, this seems to be the business model Nespresso use by setting a minimum of 50 coffee pods per order! Madness…

I find the app really useful for ordering and perusing the range of stock available, but there are a couple of pieces of functionality which I think would make this a great app. For those with a catering background it’s possibly obvious, but an ability to track our ‘stock’ would be good.

I regularly try different blends, including the barista blends, so it would be useful if I could track the number of pods I have of different types direct from the app. Each time I order, the app should update with the items I’ve ordered, and then each time I use a capsule, the machine could relay that back to the app to update my stock. This could then be shown on the order screen so I can see what I have in stock when ordering. I currently have around 80 or so capsules at home, and have just ordered a further 70, so it’s difficult to track in my head!

The other thing which would be useful is the option to give each coffee a personal rating, allowing me to see what I thought of each one when ordering - with a score out or 5 or 10 - so I can see which ones I enjoyed and wish to have again. With so many available, sometimes it’s difficult to remember (I have a health condition which causes cognition issues, impairing my memory).

I didn’t like the app at first as it didn’t seem very responsive and I couldn’t find things easily, but it seems to have been updated and more user friendly, or has it just grown on me? I find the lack of ability to go from the payment page, back and change the order without using your phones own arrow back a nuisance. Find that a little strange as you suddenly think, “ oh I’ll just add another sleeve, or I need another recycling bag”. However, I persevered with using it and now I’m happy it’s a useful app to reorder and browse the NESPRESSO range. They don’t announce the capsules have increased in price either, you suddenly find there’s an increase. (Wish my earnings went up in line with all the price hikes). The app retains your previous orders and payments a doddle through PayPal! I use my iPhone to reorder capsules. To browse, it’s much more pleasant on my iPad, as you find the top and bottom banners can reduce the viewing screen; semantics but an annoying issue I find with a lot of apps.
