How to use the NHS Direct app
Checking your symptoms
Once you’ve downloaded our app, simply select the symptom checker that best matches your symptoms and answer the questions.
Health advice
After working through our symptom checker, we’ll give you advice on what to do next, whether that means seeing your GP, going to a walk-in centre or looking after yourself at home.
Looking after yourself
If you can treat your symptoms yourself, we’ll provide you with a step-by-step self help guide on what you can do to make yourself better. You can save this information to your device so you can access it at any time.
Call us at any time
If you’d like to speak to one of our healthcare advisors, simply select the call option from our app. You’ll be connected to our 0845 4647 telephone service where you can discuss your symptoms. Customer Reviews
Used to be good :-(
This app has proved a useful source of information in the past. However on this occasion I can't get beyond the main nature of problem screen. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but still no joy.
If this app is no longer supported it should be removed.
So cautious it is useless
Now I understand why so many people come to the Emergency Department after using NHS Direct. It (understandably but to its detriment) tries to be so cautious that it invariably suggests popping down to A&E in situations that ultimately rarely warrant it. The reality is that triage over the phone / Internet simply doesn't work.
USEFUL
Well, this is a useful app - you never know when it might come in handy. It is simple, easy to use, and doesn't over-reach itself by necessarily offering categorical diagnoses with limited patient information/assessment. People with serious symptoms are encouraged to see a professional - very good advice. Of course those who make a living by bashing the NHS will never see the merits of this app...
