Description

Our updated miniature take on a classic arcade game, with all the excitement and compelling gameplay of the bigger screens. Controls have been designed specifically with the iPhone's touch-screen in mind, making the game easy to get into, yet as difficult as ever to master.

You control a spaceship and must guide it across a scrolling terrain, battling obstacles along the way. The ship is armed with a forward-firing weapon, and bombs; each weapon has its own button. The ship must avoid colliding with the terrain and other enemies, while simultaneously maintaining its limited fuel supply, which diminishes over time. More fuel can be acquired by destroying the green fuel tanks.

The game is divided into six sections, each with a different style of terrain and different obstacles. There is no intermission between each section; the game simply scrolls into the new terrain. Points are awarded based upon the number of seconds of being alive, and on destroying enemies and fuel tanks. In the final section, the player must destroy a "base". Once this has been accomplished, a flag denoting a completed mission is posted at the bottom right of the screen. The game then continues by returning you to the first section once more, with a slight increase in difficulty.

As a development of the original, this version includes power-ups and achievements, both of which challenge you more than ever before! There are weapons power-ups, score multipliers, shields and life-guards - earn achievements (which get harder and harder) to unlock certain types of power-up and to boost your score. There are 3 Game Center leaderboards now, Scores, Progress and Achievements, plus the local scores as before.

Rocket Raider or Scramble to us old folk!

Yep...for you lids of the xbox generation, you probably won't believe me when I say that apart from the early black an White version of 'pong' on the TV at home or unless you had a rich friend with an 'Atari' the original version of Rocket Raider (Scramble as we knew it) was just about the best game aroun at the time. Living in a uk village witout an amusement arcade, this was literally the only game in town. We'd queue up at the local record (large plastic disks with music on them) shop and take our turn with our pocket money to get your name on the top score list. So, well done Rocket Raider guys, this is quite true to the original both in terms of gameplay and difficulty...no longer do I spend my pocket money on it and still I can't quite make the top of the players list!! Great game-keep em coming...can we have 'defender' next??

Fatal Flaw

Great game, going back the original scramble. Unfortunately, the bomb button overlaps the white home indicator bar that appears to replace the home button on iPhones (I am using 11 Pro Max) and therefore you intermittently touch the bar - as a result of that, the window moves then returns, interrupting the game and causing it to start going again but with no ability to move the ship after the restart. Needs that fixed to be playable on iPhone. 5 Stars if that can be fixed!!!!!!!!

Developer Response ,

Hi Rob,

I’m sorry it’s behaving like this for you, but I’ve never been able to reproduce that problem. Do you know if there’s anything going on on your phone which could make it think it was being interrupted? The other thing I could do is to make it a setting to remove the auto-restart “feature” when it thinks it’s been stopped, I’ll look into that & let you know when it’s done.

Retro Raider

Its great !
I think it is harder than the original because of the controls.
It would be good if you reposition the buttons to or an option for left handed players.
