Ugly, limited, and doesn't need to exist as an app
The rest of the world can enjoy all of the Scott Pilgrim comics through universal comics apps, such as a popular Comixology app. Not so in the UK, where in a cheap rights grab Harper Collins blocked Comixology from offering this here so they could make their own app instead. And it's a lazy, cheap, unimpressive effort.
Firstly, even putting aside the pointlessness of cluttering up Springboard with content THAT SHOULD BE IN A UNIVERSAL COMICS APP, (it's akin to having a special one off app for a new album by pop group XYZ etc), there is virtually no retina display support. The iPhone 4 has been out for a good while now, so come on, stop being so damn lazy. It's a block fest, seriously ugly on an iPhone 4.
Secondly, no iPad support. iPad works great in, guess what, Comixology, but in this, no such luck.
Thirdly, only 3 episodes? Huh? Did I miss something or is this beyond ridiculous? The series is done, release them all.
And finally no iOS 4 support. Again, surprise surprise that this lazy app is written like it's 2008 and is totally devoid of useful features.
As for the content itself, I'm looking forward to reading it but will do so some other way, as this app, to be frank, is a waste of space.
Great comic
I an a huge Scott pilgrim fan, and this is a great way to enjoy this hilariously epic series, while books 1-3 are only available at this current time, I'm sure more will soon be added and is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the books, this gets a whole hearted recommendation
Scott Pilgrim and the App of Awesomess
I downloaded this as soon as I'd heard of it; it's an amazing money-saver when compared with buying the books (sorry Bryan, students need to save pennies too!), and as much as I'd like to give him more money, I'm sure many of us want to spare our wallets the pain too.
With only book 6 to go, I've been buying them as soon as they've been getting released, and while I hope the sixth is released soon, I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone considering getting the books--it could do with a little more sound, but the slick style that the books are animated in is amazing.
Keep up the good work guys!
