What's New in Version 2.2
√ We added the following iCloud functionality:
• 'Save A Copy' Saves a variation of the sketch to the location of the original sketch. For example, if the original sketch is from iCloud, the copy (variation) will be saved to iCloud.
• 'Duplicate Create' a copy of the selected sketch in the same location as the original sketch.
√ Cut, copy, and paste
• From within the Layer Editor, Tap-Hold to cut or copy content from a layer to somewhere outside the app or paste content from elsewhere into a layer. If the content contains an alpha channel, it is respected.

SketchBook Pro
This app has lots of different features but it needs more useful features to overtake Brushes or InspirePro such as the ability to zoom in without the pixels blurring, to be able to produce a picture that can be enlarged and to be able to undo/redo a lot more. It needs more simplicity to the design and features yet useful. On the other hand i think that this app could become a successful because it has by far the best range of tools out of the 'art' apps, but it just needs a boost and a change to get it up. A big update with a better design and features. It won't matter if the cost goes up by a couple of quid/bucks - brushes is over £5.

.....needs a smudge/blend tool PLEASE.

Powerful app!
This is the only drawing app that I've spent money on, and it's been worth it. Obviously try the free version first. If you're familiar with photoshop you should pick this up quite easily (some of the tool options and controls can be a bit fiddly, but once you get used to the 3- finger tap to bring up the menus it becomes familiar quite quickly).
In pro you can edit your brushes (hardness, opacity, angle on some types), and edit colour palettes. The range of brushes is pretty good.
12 layers sounds restrictive but is workable. The blend modes are multiply, screen, 'add' ( which seems to work a bit like linear dodge), and normal. You can save the layered version of the files to keep editability too.
Working with type leaves a little to be desired - you can only type one line at a time, being able to add paragraphs would be a needed improvement. And once type is inputted it turns into pixels, so the only way to edit later is to remove and redo. I suspect small text would appear pixelated if you printed it. I haven't tried exporting/printing so don't know what resolution is like. I doubt print quality is pro-standard. It looks great in your photo album and on screen though.
I would like to see masking added (altho you can use erasers and undo, and you can lock layer transparency to make it easy to draw over only the object on a layer) and a marquee or vector pen tool so you can make selections, and duplicate parts of layers would be good too. A shape tool would also be handy - the only way to make rectangles, squares and circles is by using type (fullstops, capital 'i' etc). Adding guides and rules to help line things up would be a nice extra feature too! With these improvements, 5 stars. But for £2.99 you could argue 4 stars is a harsh rating for this much stuff!
