Description

SoundNote is the best way to take notes in meetings, lectures, and interviews. It tracks what you type and draw while recording audio, so you'll never worry about missing an important detail. During playback, just tap a word: SoundNote will jump right to the proper time in the audio.

• Use SoundNote's powerful drawing tool for quick sketches. It's easy to edit them, too. Tap a drawing to select it, or tap twice to select an individual stroke. From there, you can drag it to wherever you want, or tap "Delete" to get rid of it. Use two fingers to zoom and scroll.

• SoundNote is perfect for students. If you ever fall asleep in class, don't worry — SoundNote's got your back. Just tap what you wrote while you were awake, and SoundNote will play the audio to help you fill in the blanks.

• SoundNote is also great for journalists. Ever miss an important detail during an interview and have to skim through your entire recording to find out what it was? With SoundNote, just tap a word from that part of the interview — it'll play back what you missed.

• When you're done, share your text, drawings, and audio notes via email, or transfer them directly to your Mac or PC. Audio notes are recorded in standard M4A format: One hour of high quality audio is only 25MB.

Good for University

This app is great for recording lectures, but please can you add folders so I can group my recordings together? It’s really hard to differentiate recordings because they’re all under the same channel. Thanks!

Indispensible for University

Soundnote is a brilliant application for use in small tutorials and in taking personal notes but its harmonics and level of volume make it almost redundant in the lecture hall. It would also really benefit from the ability to import PDFs so verbal notes can be taken while reading journal papers and academic articles. With this function included it would easily surpass five stars.

This app alone makes the iPad worth every penny

For journalists/lawyers and pretty much anyone who has to attend meetings, listen to speakers and take notes, you could probably charge the cost of an entry level iPad for a device which did nothing more than this application. It is, of course, stunningly simple - yet performs a task that is so useful once you have used it in anger, you'll never want to go back to pure recording or note taking again.

Thanks to the iPad's inbuilt microphone quality and long battery life, it's genuinely useful. Everyone using an iPad for work should have this application. Every iPad review I have written has this high on the recommended "first apps".

It's £2.99. Cheaper than a decent pen and a pad of paper, let alone a dictaphone. Why are you even reading the reviews?
