We just pushed TT iPad 2.6.1 live and it appears this is causing a not insignificant upgrade issue. Customers upgrading from the version 2.5 are fine and not experiencing any issues, however - customers that are upgrading from 2.6 (the version we released on Tuesday 13th December) will find that the Times application will crash and no longer boot on their iPad until they have either cleared the cache or reinstalled the application completely.

It works
If the app closes again as soon as you open it, go to the iPad configuration and select "clear cache". Open the app again and it will work.
Reinstall gets it working!
Just upgraded to the new version - and initially the app didn't seem to work at first, but after deleting and reinstalling it everything is working fine and even the slightly garbled up images I saw yesterday appear to be in the correct place again. That was quick.
Fix Available (courtesy of The Times)
Times have confirmd the fix - go into Settings and clear the cache. Also, the "remove from iTunes and reinstall works too". A great app - appalling testing.
