The TomTom Navigation app requires a GPS signal. 3G-enabled iPads, iPhone 3G and later models have an internal GPS receiver. Users of non-3G iPads and iPod touch 2nd gen and later models will require an external GPS receiver. The original iPhone and iPod touch are not supported.
(1)Compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S, iPad WiFi + 3G models. If you’d prefer to use your existing subscription on your iPad, restore your purchases within the TomTom App on your iPad. The App will prompt you to transfer your subscription between your iPhone and iPad.
(2)Announces street names in the following languages: English UK, English US, English Australian.
(3)Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
(4)Photos can only be used for navigation if you have enabled Location Services in the Camera application.

Updates at last ...
... and as promised I've updated my rating although why on earth it's taken so long is beyond me. There's still much room for improvement though, amongst other things:
• there's STILL no way to remove a marker
• the problem with the music volume and voice still persists
• traffic and speed camera data is still grossly overpriced
• I couldn't personally give a stuff about sharing my position via Facebook, twitter etc, what would be useful though would be the ability to share my position via an embedded link or map on my website like the "Trackr!" app.
• As has already been pointed out by another customer, the new icon is indeed crap.
Having tried a number of similar
apps, including the dreadful and wretched "Co-Pilot", I do believe TomTom is about the best there is. Unfortunately though it's expensive. I therefore have high expectations of it. Come on TomTom, pull your finger(s) out!
Stupid changes
1. Do the app developers seriously think that the option to share your location with the world is my second most used function? of course not, yet there it is clogging up my main menu.
2. read the app design guidelines - they say dont put the name on the icon as the name is displayed below it, yet you have done this so my icon says tom tom … then tom tom below it.
Perhaps if you put more effort into keeping the maps up to date and less into adding useless features that are a serious security risk then this might be worth it, but now I am annoyed i bought it in the first place.
Crap icon, pointless new features.
The ability to tell people EXACTLY where I am on face book is such a pointless addition. And one of questionable safety.
