The TomTom Navigation app requires a GPS signal. 3G-enabled iPads, iPhone 3G and later models have an internal GPS receiver. Users of non-3G iPads and iPod touch 2nd gen and later models will require an external GPS receiver. The original iPhone and iPod touch are not supported.
(1)TomTom HD Traffic is available in the US & Canada. Compatible with iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S, iPad WiFi + 3G models. If you’d prefer to use your existing subscription on your iPad, restore your purchases within the TomTom App on your iPad. The App will prompt you to transfer your subscription between your iPhone and iPad.

Gps signal
Tried using this while holiday with my wife, all I got the all time I tried to use it was poor gps signal. I tried to get a satellite fix by standing on one point for two hrs but still did not work. I downloaded this app for my iPad, I hope other people have more joy with this app. Do I get a refund ????
Excellent
Ok, let's be clear from the start - I am reviewing the TomTom US & Canada app - not TomTom customer support which we all know is crap, and not the icon - get a life!
The app works very well on my iPhone 4S and does everything it claims to. I have used it to navigate all around Florida, including minor roads down in the Keys and the Everglades. The ability to navigate to locations found on a Google search is brilliant - just imagine, you want to go somewhere but you don't know the address you can Google it via this app and it will navigate you there. The GPS locates me faster than my regular TomTom device and maintains a good 'fix' throughout. The menu and some of the settings can be a bit fiddly at first but you soon get used to it and once you've customised the settings to suit you it is very easy to use. Only three negatives. 1 - I don't want to share my data so why should I have to to get full functionality? 2 - there does not appear to be a "map update" option - hopefully this will be addressed by updates but knowing TomTom I doubt it! 3 - why the link with Facebook & Twitter? What on earth have they got to with getting you from A to B (or am I just being a Luddite?!!). Overall an excellent app that works well.
